About us – Free bets
Free bets sound simple until the terms are read, and Free bets exists to read them. The editors look at what an offer demands, which Gambling Commission rules limit it, and what the price and margin underneath really say. Nothing is sold here: no bets are accepted, no tips are on offer and no returns are promised, as a bet that is certain to win does not exist.
Working from sources
Statements about operators come from their own terms, help pages and footers. Legal statements come from statutes and from the publications of the Gambling Commission and other public bodies. Promotions change quickly, so any figure is accompanied by the date and place where it applied. Once the sources run out, the matter is put into words and no figure is invented.
What a licence check means here
Customers in Great Britain can only be served by a firm with a Gambling Commission licence. The test is the Commission’s public register, since a brand is either on it or not. A .com address is used by licensed firms, so it proves nothing, and a licence from Curaçao, Malta or Gibraltar is no stand-in. Where a site operates with no Great Britain licence, the text says so plainly: no GAMSTOP, no access to the Commission’s complaints route, thinner protection. Northern Ireland sits outside the Gambling Act 2005 and has its own law. Placing in a bonus table is not a licence.
Audience
Readers are adults in Great Britain; betting begins at 18. The pages do not replace legal or tax advice. If betting has begun to take up more space than intended, GamCare, GambleAware and GAMSTOP are the places to turn.
