Cookie policy – Free bets
Pages about free bets do not need much tracking, and Free bets is built accordingly. Below is a list of the cookies and similar tools in use, the reason for each, and how a visitor can refuse or alter them. A cookie is a short text file that the browser stores on a device; local and session storage entries and tracking pixels follow the same principle.
Rules on consent
Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) applies. A user must receive clear and comprehensive information and must consent before information is stored on the device or already stored information is read. The exception is storage strictly necessary to deliver a service the user asked for. Consent has to satisfy the UK GDPR (Article 4(11) and Article 7) and be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and withdrawing it must be as easy as giving it. Where cookies involve personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 add their rules.
Necessary cookies
Some files keep the site reliable: they hold a session open, spread traffic across servers, guard forms against abuse and store the visitor’s cookie decision. No separate choice is offered for these. A session file ends when the browser is closed, and the saved decision is kept for twelve months at most.
Cookies set after consent
Functional files store preferences, such as the offer filters used last. Analytics files count page views and show which pages get read so content can be improved. Neither type is set until the banner has been answered. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no cross-site behavioural profiles are built.
Content from other providers
Videos, maps and similar embeds may bring cookies from their provider, and that provider’s privacy terms then apply; objections go to the provider. Free bets sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear choice in the banner.
Refusal and withdrawal
Through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, consent can be altered or withdrawn whenever needed. Withdrawal works for the future only and leaves earlier processing lawful. Browser settings also allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. If necessary files are removed, the banner reappears and a few features may briefly misbehave.
Complaints
Concerns about the handling of personal data can be brought to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s supervisory authority. The privacy policy describes how personal data is processed.
